The '57 J.M. Cadet Band Plays "Dixie Patrol"

  We dedicate this John Marshall Cadet Alumni website to all former cadets and sponsors, especially the 76 former cadets who gave their life for our Country.  We remember all of our cadet brothers and sponsors who are no longer with us. May their spirit live on!

  With gratitude, we give thanks to the JM Alumni who continue their support in upholding the legacy of the John Marshall High School Corps of Cadets!  This website is for you... Cadet Alumni, former Sponsors, Marshallites, Family, and Friends of the Corps!

 The most recent JM CADET ALUMNI REUNION was held Saturday, September 27, 2025 at "The Place at Innsbrook", located just off West Broad Street in Henrico County.  Please Go HERE  for Photos.  We enjoyed a delicious luncheon, and then music by the fantastic Richmond Cadet Alumni Band as they performed the school songs and marches that we all remember from our JM school days.  We were able to peruse JM Cadet memorabilia, and renew long lasting friendships. In attendance were Cadet Alumni, Sponsors, Friends of the Corps, Family members, JM Alumni, and Guests.  Through the generosity of a Cadet Alumnus, we were once again able to hold our reservation price down to an affordable level.

  For News & Schedule of Events, and the April 2025 Cadet Alumni Guidon (Newsletter), please go HERE.   Please use the Menu shown on the left of this page to access all other features of this website. There are many!  CADET VIDEOS ARE LOCATED IN THE "BROTHER RAT PRODUCTIONS" AREA OF THE WEBSITE.  (See Below).

  On April 24, 2016 this website was enhanced by adding all content formerly included on the JM "Brother Rat Productions" website.   Go HERE.   You will enjoy numerous videos of past cadet events, taken by Jim Walthall, Floyd Fetterman, and others.  You will find various interviews with cadet alumni, commandants, and sponsors.  There is much to see including a video of the 2009 event at the Virginia Historical Society. (Now the Virginia Museum of History and Culture).

   MEMORIAL DAY - Monday, May 25, 2026 - 12:00 PM...., At the J. M. Cadet War Memorial in Hollywood Cemetery there will be a program to honor the memory of the 76 former John Marshall Cadets who proudly served our country giving their all.  We will also remember and give thanks to all Veterans.  This will be an abbreviated ceremony intended for John Marshall alumni but it is open to the public.  There will be no featured speaker, and there will be no band in attendance. Taps will be played to honor our fallen heroes.

OAKWOOD CEMETERY MEMORIAL PARADE - Spring 1958

They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Below is a portion of General Douglas MacArthur's farewell speech delivered on May 12, 1962 to the Cadets at West Point.  These poignant words are befitting to every former John Marshall Cadet. The memories live on.

  "...My days of old have vanished-tone and tints. They have gone glimmering through the dreams of things that were. Their memory is one wondrous beauty, watered by tears and coaxed and caressed by the smiles of yesterday. I listen then, but with thirsty ear,  for the witching melody of faint bugles blowing reveille of far drums beating the long roll...... Today marks my final roll call with you. But I want you to know that when I cross the river, my last conscience thoughts will be of the Corps, and of the Corps, and the Corps..."

Memories, Pictures, & Comments.  Please share them. This website is a tribute to our Cadet Corps & our School, the memories of both having meant much to all of us through the years.   Please note that all semesters such as Fall/Spring used in descriptions on this website are referring to the calendar year, not the class year. (This can be very confusing!)  Please visit the remaining pages by using the Menu on the left of this page.
